a few days ago, talbot runhof presented their fall / winter 2008 / 2009 collection during paris fashion week.

the location: the spectacular hôtel de beauharnais, the residence of the german ambassador to france; one of the most splendid, perfect and complete examples of empire interior design left on the planet.

the look: red carpet opulence meets alpine glamour.

the inspiration: the 1965 film “the sound of music”.

the story takes place in 1938 in salzburg, in all of its baroque magnificence and alpine nature. fields of edelweiss and enzian, tapestries, traditional costume, feathers, raindrops are images which permeate the senses. the setting of our show, the palais beauharnais, not unlike the setting of the film, is not only the ideal location but served as our constant muse. the music, a blend of “our favorite things”, contains smatterings of works from richard wagner who composed this music in and while living in these lush surroundings on rue de lille. “raindrops on roses” and “edelweiss” print on crêpe satin, tapestry brocade and loden, feather flowers and feather fabrics, tyrolean details on coats and dresses, jabot dresses, tops and skirts, knickerbockers, tyrolean hats, “haferl” sling-backs and lace stockings.

vanity-fair.de said, “the fashion world was utterly speechless with excitement”, and the digital version of american vogue, style.com voted talbot runhof to one of the 10 most promising new talents of the season.

starting may 2008, the collection can be seen in our munich boutique and in some of the best boutiques and department stores in the world. For those of you who cannot wait until may, johnny talbot and adrian runhof will be personally presenting their collection at 4 exclusive events in singapore and in south florida.

review // highlights from the red carpet season

oscar, bambi, diva, filmball – once again a host of celebrities had the opportunity to dazzle crowds gathered alongside the red carpet. One of the highlights, karl lagerfeld’s pre-bambi photo session with veronica ferres, barbara schöneberger and jette joop in gowns from talbot runhof, alongside katie holmes, tom cruise and queen rania of jordan.
