Talbot Runhof Fall/Winter 2006/2007 whispers silent glamour
Razor-sharp dresses made of silk stretch, dress/jacket combinations of wool and cashmere stretch flannel, glamorous gowns of satin and all in a regal color palette of black, steel gray and chocolate brown with accents of emerald, red wine and amethyst… Couture know-how is reflected in fine details: encrusted laces decorated with grosgrain origami on skirts and slacks, silk mousseline accents on plunging necklines, indiscrete jewelry attached discretely to jackets and gowns, drape and wrap effects… For daywear and cocktail, jersey dresses, satin dresses, pantsuits combined with mousseline blouses, tops, cardigans and wraps of cashmere. For the evening, narrow, sleek dresses of stretch silk taffetas, deep-cut bustier dresses with wide skirts, and a new silhouette defined by a narrow hip-length bustier worn with gathered and tiered skirts making an all together slim line. You can experience our collection in our boutiques in Hamburg and in Munich and additionally by our partners from Singapore to Los Angeles and Zurich to Dubai. Beginning the 8th of September in the gallery of the Talbot Runhof Boutique Munich, Johnny and Adrian are thrilled to open the photo exhibition of Belgian Jean François Carly.
"What I like about fashion is its constant rebirth, its energy, its creativity. I try to create a mood, a sort of dark romantic fairy tale that the clothes become a part of."
Indeed, his pictures always have a dark mood, and carry a secret; even if their message seems obvious at first, they contain a deep melancholy, almost like a built-in disruption device, so that the images reflect the world as it is, not perfect or flat, but vulnerable and yet strong enough to keep outsiders from intruding into the privacy of the people he pictures.
Originally from Belgium, Jean-Francois Carly has spent the last seven years in London. His works have been shown in several exhibitions, among them. "The imperfect Beauty" at the Victoria & Albert in London, "Men in Skirts" at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, "Chic Clicks" at the ICA Boston. He also had a solo show - "Coulisses" - at the Natural History Museum during London Fashion Week. He regularly works for the cream of the crop of international trend magazines such as "Arena Homme Plus", "Crash", "Delkaae Vitae", "V Magazine", and "i-D", has shot campaigns for Bally. Harrods and Woman's Secret, directed a music video for Cherups and the art video, "I feel - Raf Simons" at the designer's mens 2005/2006 show.
